2020 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development
The Commonwealth Secretary-General launch the 2020 Commonwealth Youth Awards for Excellence in Development Work.
Nominees Must be:
- aged 15 to 29 years;
- a citizen of a Commonwealth member country;
- been engaged in development work for more than 12 months – either in a professional or voluntary capacity;
- have a strong track record of implementing innovative ideas and linking their development work and its impact to one of the 17 SDGs;
- have demonstrated an understanding of the importance of youth engagement in key areas of development.
Entrants can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone who is not a relative and who can testify to their work.
The 2020 finalists will receive a trophy, a certificate and cash grants to help them continue their development work.
All finalists will be awarded £1,000. Each selected regional winner will receive an additional £2,000, bringing their total win to £3,000. The Commonwealth Young Person of the Year will also receive an additional cash grant of £2,000, bringing her/his total award to £5,000.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants who are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements by August 1 of their enrollment year. There are no requirements for a specific field of undergraduate study; all fields are welcome, but it will be important for applicants, regardless of undergraduate major, to articulate how participating in Schwarzman Scholars will help develop their leadership potential within their field. 2

The requirement will also be waived for applicants who have studied in English for two or more years at a Master’s degree level or higher.

1. Bilateral Program
This includes full or partial scholarships in accordance with the educational exchange agreements or consensus between the Chinese government and governments of other countries, institutions, universities or international organizations. It supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars and senior scholars.
Applicants shall apply to the dispatching authorities for overseas study of their home countries.2. Chinese University Program
This is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. It only supports undergraduates, postgraduate students and doctoral students.
Applicants shall apply to the designated Chinese universities undertaking this program.3. Great Wall Program
This is a full scholarship for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to sponsor students and scholars in developing countries to study and research in China. It only supports general scholars and senior scholars.
Applicants shall apply to the National Commissions for UNESCO in their home countries.4. EU Program
This is a full scholarship to encourage students from EU member countries to study and research in China in order to promote mutual understanding between China and EU members. It supports undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars and senior scholars.

This is a full scholarship for the ASEAN University Network (AUN) to sponsor students, teachers and scholars from ASEAN member nations to study in China and to enhance the academic exchange and mutual understanding between China and ASEAN members. 6. PIF Program
This is a full scholarship to sponsor students from Pacific island countries to study in China. It supports undergraduates, graduates, general scholars and senior scholars.

This is scholarship for the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) to sponsor international students to study and conduct research in meteorology, hydrology, and water resources supervision and management in China. It only supports undergraduates and graduates.
Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships for Foreign Scholars and Artists for the 2020-2021 Academic Year
The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD and at foreign artists holding a bachelor’s degree. egree.
Types of scholarship
- The research scholarship is available to post-graduate
researchers in any discipline (who hold a master’s degree as a minimum)
who are planning to come to Switzerland to pursue research or further
studies at doctoral or post-doctoral level.
Research scholarships are awarded for research or study at all Swiss cantonal universities, universities of applied sciences and the two federal institutes of technology.
